I’m trashy. Let me clarify, I love trash... Hmm... I know, o.k., you know the crazy people you see on the side of a county road loading a box spring into the back of their truck? Or when you’re driving around town and see a lady gleefully walking back to her suburban with stuff that was recently next to the trash can by the curb? Dumpster diving. Literally. Outside a cabinet shop. Her. Yes. That’s Moi’!!!! I reckon it’d be o.k. if I changed ‘trashy’ to ‘resourceful’. I come by it naturally as my Ma was known for a few curbside finds even when the idea horrified my father.
I have a hard time calling myself an artist as I have a sister and a brother who are both artist. They went to years of school, have degrees, teach and create. My education comes from Pinterest, magazines, books, YouTube and The Real Housewives franchise. I have a hard time making a straight line with a ruler. I don’t have the artistic talent of my sibs but I have the desire to research, ask questions, try, fail, succeed, create. I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel I just want to make it pretty with some paint, glitter, something pink, sparkling, with a side of decoupage. I desire repurposing something that can still be used or turned into something pretty. My husband, Jerry, no longer asks me ‘what are you going to use that for?’ or questions why we are headed to town for a porch pick up of fifty empty wine bottles.
I refinish furniture and I do custom work. I make signs from reclaimed (and occasionally the hardware store) wood. I specialize in Shabby Chic/Farmhouse/French Country/Glamour and Traditional Elegance. I love God, America, and my family. ANNDDD big 80’s hair, leg warmers, faux fur, anything that sparkles, College football, hockey, auctions, visiting with people, the color pink, Pink, pinto beans, Ellen, Flamingos (my spirit animal) and TCU FOOTBALL, #GOFROGS!!!!
